Those who trust in
the Lord
'But those who
trust in the Lord will receive new strength. They will fly as high as eagles.
They will run and not get tired. They will walk and not grow weak. ‘Isaiah
40:31
They who wait upon
the Lord- The word rendered here “wait”, denotes waiting upon the Lord with a sense of expectancy. The phrase,’ to
wait on Yahweh ‘means to wait on his help; that is to trust in him and to put
our hopes and confidence in him. This is applicable to those who are in
circumstance of danger, need, and who look to him for his merciful
intervention.
'Those who put
their hope in you will never be put to shame. But those who lie to other people
for no reason will be put to shame. Lord, show me your ways. Teach me how to
follow you. Guide me in your truth. Teach me. You are God my Savior. I put my
hope in you all day long. 'Psalm 25:3-5
'Wait for the
Lord. Be strong and don’t lose hope. Wait for the Lord.’
Psalm 27:14
'In Jerusalem
there was a man named Simeon. He was a good and godly man. He was waiting for
God’s promise to Israel to come true. The Holy Spirit was with him. 'Luke 2:25
'There was also a
prophet named Anna. She was the daughter of Penuel from the tribe of Asher.
Anna was very old. After getting married, she lived with her husband seven
years. Then she was a widow until she was 84. She never left the temple. She
worshiped night and day, praying and going without food. Anna came up to Jesus’
family at that moment. She gave thanks to God. And she spoke about the child to
all who were looking forward to the time when Jerusalem would be set free. 'Luke
2:36-38
Here,
the promise of assurance is general in nature.
1/ Those who feel
that they are weak, guilty, helpless, and in view of this, they put their hope
and trust in the Lord.
2/ The people of
God who trust in him shall become strong in faith and able to withstand all
physical and spiritual foes and to overcome them so as to gain victory over
their sins and to accomplish their duties and trials in life.
God gives them
strength if they seek him in the appointed way-this promise has been verified
with the experience of his people of every age.
3/By looking to
him for help, placing their trust in him and expecting deliverance by his
promise.
According to his
promise: They, who hope in the lord, will have renewed strength. Peter 1:15
says” who are protected by the power of God through faith, for a salvation
ready to be revealed in the last time”.
