‘Come, my people, enter your chambers, and
shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until the fury
has passed by. ‘Isaiah 26:20
The wrath of God will come It represented
the removal and separation of the pagans all around them, perhaps as blood was
drawn into Babylon. The captive nation of Israel was called to become a holy
nation.
What should we do now as we face many of
the dangers of living in a world filled with death and evil?
When God shut up the ark to save Noah and
his family from the flood and also when he saved The Jews who were in Egypt from
the plague by having them put the blood of the lamb on the outside of the
doorposts and then shut the doors; we are seeing the power of God at work to
separate his people from those that did not obey his laws.
'And they that went in, went in male and
female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in. 'Genesis
7:16
'And the Lord said unto Moses, Yet will I
bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you
go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence
altogether. 'Exodus 11:1
1. We must take refuge in the dangers of
God's judgment so that we may seek refuge in our home, not to escape famine,
persecution, or danger, but to seek our trust in God.
2. So that we may place our trust in Him,
not in our own wisdom or knowledge, and not only in the judgment which He
brings but also in the eternal death He Himself will bring.
3. The only thing we can do when we are
trusting in God is to wait for God to send us home to Heaven now or later in
the future.
4. Patience, waiting for God to bring a
new world, is one of the most important Christian qualities.
5. Those who faithfully wait until the
work of God is completed will receive an eternal reward from God.
6. We must distinguish ourselves from
living as secular people. We do not separate ourselves from the world by
turning away from the non-Christians, and the Word of God commands us to be
light and salt in this fallen world so that people can come into the kingdom of
God.
'"You are the salt of the earth, but
if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no
longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's
feet. "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be
hidden. 'Matthew 5:13-14
