With a new year before us, we look to the
Bible for direction. Fortunately, the Bible is rich in stories and words of
renewal and of God’s loving plan for each and every one of our lives. Here are
seven verses to keep in mind as the New Year begins.
The promise of
restoration
'Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is
a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
'2 Corinthians 5:17
The time of God
'Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for
him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the
man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 'Psalms 37:7
Letting go of the past
'Remember ye not the former things,
neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall
spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness,
and rivers in the desert. 'Isaiah 43:18-19
The Lord has a plan for us
'For I know the thoughts that I think
toward you, saith the Lord , thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an
expected end. 'Jeremiah 29:11
Hope for the
future
'For surely there is an end; and thine
expectation shall not be cut off. '
Proverbs 23:18
Refreshment of the
heart and spirit
'And I will give them one heart, and I
will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their
flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: 'Ezekiel 11:19
Trust in the Lord
'Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and
he shall direct thy paths. 'Proverbs 3:5-6
