Divers temptations
'My brethren,
count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 'James 1:2
James says that
he is surrounded by many kinds of trials.
1) Believers Should Accept Such Suffering with Glory. ‘Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall
say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be
exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the
prophets which were before you. 'Matthew 5:11-12. For testament is better to
one another than charity and sincerity. 'And not only so, but we glory in
tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience,
experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love
of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
'Romans 5:3-5. 'In all this you greatly rejoice, though now
for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. '1
Peter 1:6
2) Sometimes
the Bible teaches that suffering in the lives of believers is God's desire to
test the true worth of their faith. The Bible does not teach where God always
proves to be angry with us. But suffering is a sign of God's firm conviction of
God. 'For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling
of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an
enduring substance. 'Hebrews 10:34' Now no chastening for the present seemeth
to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable
fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. 'Hebrews 12:11
